COVID-19 Dashboard

Dartmouth's plan to bring students back to campus for the 2020-21 academic year emphasizes the health and safety of students, faculty, and staff and includes frequent testing for the COVID-19 virus. This dashboard is updated daily.

  • Faculty and staffinclude those employed full or part-time by Dartmouth and contracted staff who are on-site and in contact with Dartmouth faculty, staff, or students.

  • Studentsincludes Dartmouth students living on campus or off campus in the Upper Valley (regardless of their winter term registration status).

Students in our community testing program are tested weekly. Employees are also tested weekly, or less frequently based on their need to be on campus. The current turnaround-time for receiving test results is 24 to 48 hours and occasionally up to 72 hours.

Beginning in January 2021, students in our community testing program and employees who need to be on campus will be tested twice weekly.

TheConfirmed Casestable shows the number of active cases and the number of cumulative cases of COVID-19 confirmed among students, faculty, and staff since July 1, 2020. A case is considered active when someone is still in their isolation period or is beyond that period but continues to have symptoms and receive care. This information does not include pre-arrival testing numbers (see below) unless a confirmed case is diagnosed by a positive pre-arrival test completed in the Upper Valley.

TheTestingtable shows the number of COVID-19 PCR tests performed on campus and the number of those tests that came back positive as well as the number of students, faculty, and staff who have been tested for COVID-19 since July 1, 2020. Tests performed is different from people tested because individuals can be tested more than once throughout the term. This information does not include pre-arrival testing numbers (see below).

quarantine & Isolation

QUARANTINE AND ISOLATION STUDENTS 教职员工 TOTAL
Currently in quarantine 15 0 15
Currently in isolation 5 10 15

TheQuarantine and Isolationtable shows the number of students, faculty, and staff currently in quarantine or isolation. People in quarantine are those who do not have symptoms and have not tested positive for COVID-19 but are identified as having a risk factor for exposure to COVID-19 (e.g., close contact to someone with COVID-19, travel outside of area designated in thetravel policy, etc.). Individuals completing their initial arrival quarantine are not included in these numbers. People in isolation are those with or without symptoms who have tested positive for COVID-19 or who have symptoms and are awaiting test results. Given that many COVID-19 symptoms can occur commonly, especially during cold and flu season, symptomatic individuals in isolation often end up testing negative for the condition.

On-campus Quarantine and Isolation Spaceshows how much on-campus quarantine and isolation space is currently occupied and how much is available. In situations where students are able to safely quarantine in their own rooms, as determined by the Dartmouth College Health Service, those spaces are not included in these numbers.

Dartmouth arranges pre-arrival COVID-19 testing for incoming students. The saliva-based kits are mailed to domestic students at an address they provide. Before traveling to campus, students who test positive must isolate at home for 10 days and be fever-free for at least 24 hours with improving symptoms according toCDC guidelines. The Dartmouth College Health Service will provide further guidance to those students.
